I have no words ..
.. the ridiculous ending of the '10 World Superbike Championship at Imola.
And so I leave only the comments of Leon Haslam .. healthier than mine.
"This year was amazing, my best. I'm disappointed not to be able to realize my aspirations with Team Alstare World Superbike, as we predicted a year ago. However, I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I offered in 2010 and allowing me to leave so polite and gentlemanly. "
" It 's frustrating to have done so because I hoped to fight until Magny-Cours but that's racing. We always knew it would be a difficult task because the advantage in terms of points of Max was great, but as there was hope, we continued to fight. "
" I won the first race, if I had not made a error on the last lap. I was looking for Carlos and confident of being able to go to win. I unplugged strong, but I lost the front. I did not fall, but lost some positions. I saw that Max had just finished 11th, so at least the fight would have been able to continue and maybe I could get a podium and Max would have done another race away from the first.
In race two I was looking for Tom Sykes. He was fast on the straights, but I slowed down in the corners, so I thought I'd pass in the final chicane. I tried, but only to end up on the gravel. I returned, I passed too many people and it took me a little 'time to return to the regime. I was using the same bike for Race 1 because there was no reason to change it. The engine was OK. At some point I started to have some problems, but I thought it was the tires and when the engine is broken, I tried to leave the track as soon as possible. "
" I did not want the title fight ended in this way, but I knew I had to try this weekend, and this is what I did. I am a bit 'bitter because it is the second weekend that I get on the podium. I'll try to do better at Magny-Cours, winning both races! "
